Despite being in the process of an investigation into it's response to it's recent recall involving a faulty ignition switch, General Motors (GM) have revealed three more discrete recalls. These new recalls affect 1,546,900 vehicles in the US, with almost 1.7 million affected overall.

According to a new study published by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), rearview cameras are safer when used on their own. The study showed that drivers were provided with no more safety protection through the use of parking sensors than using just their mirrors. When they had both sensors and cameras, the result was actually more dangerous.

New traffic laws to curb lane hogging and tailgating, have seen traffic cops pull over more than 5,000 motorists in the past six months. These figures came to light after a freedom of information request which was sent to all 45 forces to see how many were stopped and why. These laws allow police to issue on the spot fines and licence points to drivers for careless driving such as lane hogging, tailgating or wheelspins. Drivers can also be dealt with by the way of an educational course, similar to the drink driving scheme offered to cut the length of a driving ban.
